Identification of system nonlinearities and dynamics, and the development of a nonlinear control strategy of an electronic throttle using LabVIEW / PXI.

 

 

Identification experiments were used to capture the nonlinearities and dynamics of a Saab Electronic Throttle connected to NI PXI with DAQ cards to access armature voltage and throttle valve position. LabVIEW System Identification Toolkit was used with data stored in TDMS format for the identification, and the nonlinear control and testing was carried out in LabVIEW Real-Time. Two model-based nonlinear controller methods were evaluated: a) using Hammerstein-type model, using inverse of static nonlinearities only and b) full nonlinear control using physics based model, including Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) for parameter estimation.
